Class Attendance Recommendations

  • To ensure consistent progress and to support safe physical and nervous system development, we encourage all students to attend at least two UPA classes per week.
  • UPA offers classes and/or private sessions every day of the week, providing a flexible schedule throughout the week. Regular attendance helps to prevent injuries; to develop new skills safely; and allows students to have more fun and feel confident in their abilities.
  • Please remember that our Academy teaches acrobatics basics to all students. Acrobatic body shapes and skills require the entire body to be under control, in both stretched/flexible and shortened/strong muscle positions. Practicing acrobatics once per week may be frustrating for both students and coaches as it is nearly impossible to achieve progress practicing acrobatic shapes and skills once per week.
  • Attending UPA classes at least twice per week will balance out the workload throughout the week and will keep the body and the mind prepared to safely progress.
  • Attending UPA classes at least twice per week will allow the needed time to prepare individual and team acts for UPA students.

Student Homework and Class Preparation

  • Notebook and Pen for All Regular Class Students: Every student who is old enough to write must bring a notebook and pen to class. For younger students, our coaches will write key information for them to review with parents.
  • Review and Practice at Home: We strongly encourage students and parents to review class notes together and regularly practice the body shapes/forms each student is currently working on.
